Founder, Classico Portraits
Most dog photographers do love dogs. That's a start. And I get it.
I grew up in the horse paddock, where my love of animals began.
Then I got Flee, a kelpie cross who changed my world.
But love isn't the same as understanding.
I've spent fifteen years learning the difference. Working alongside vet behaviourists, fear-free groomers, and thousands of dogs across Adelaide, Melbourne, Mornington, Gippsland, and several years in Italy.
I notice the slight lean away from a hug, the slow blinks, the whale eyes that appear when nobody has listened to the quieter signals. That's why we choose locations suited to your dog, reward often, and build in constant breaks. Our goal is for your dog to never have a reason to show those early signals, let alone anything more distressed.
But if we do see them, we change it up. We'd stop altogether if we needed to. Because we are genuinely dog-first.
That's what I've built Classico Portraits around. It's what my whole team is trained in, and it's why clients trust us with the moments that matter most.
Sessions aren't structured around getting the shot quickly. They're built around your dog, their personality, their pace, the places they actually love and are most comfortable. Sometimes that's a beach at sunrise. Sometimes it's your backyard. Sometimes it's a two-hour hike because that's where they come to life.
We'll plan your fundraiser photoshoot with the same intention.
Because one day, they'll be all you have.
And you want to remember the day fondly.

Yes, everyone is welcome to join the fundraiser, however only MPDR adopted dogs will feature in the calendar.

With over fifteen years as a specialist pet photographer, Kirstie will work with you and them, to ensure everyone is relaxed and safe. That might mean shooting at home, or with a long lens and retouching the lead out. It might mean spending fifteen minutes just walking before we lift the camera. Whatever works for your dog, we’ll do it!

Your session can be in studio, at home, the beach, park or bushland- wherever is special to you and suits everyone in the photos.
These fundraiser sessions will take place within 20km of Mornington where we are based.

Your session will happen in August or Septmebr 2026. This is to ensure we have time for printing the calendars in time for the New Year.
For the best natural light, we usually shoot first thing in the morning, or in the last two hours of the day.
Weekends can be accommodated although they usually booked up fast.

Your session will be reschedule if storms or bad weather is forecast and your shoot is outdoors.
Due to Victoria’s unpredictable weather, we try to wait as late as possible to decide but we’ll chat the day before. -

Images start at $350 each
Your first image is covered but we’ll capture a range of images and once you see the photos, you’ll likely spend a hundreds if not thousands on images you love.
Most importantly, we’ll design a collection that suits your goals and budget and discuss all of this on the call prior to booking.
