Portraits

Photography experiences with your
pets, kids and loved-one.

From the Gippsland Lakes to the High Country, Latrobe Valley to Phillip Island and The Prom - Gippsland provides us with adventure in every corner.

Let’s document your favourite adventures in Gippsland,
with those most special to you.

Wherever your story unfolds—running along the coast, exploring bush trails, or playing in your own backyard—I’ll come to the places that mean the most to you. Your session fee covers travel from Traralgon to Melbourne and across South Gippsland, so we can capture your adventures exactly where they happen.

And if East Gippsland is special to you, I’d love to meet you there too. There will be a higher reservation fee, but the full amount comes back as print credit—so you can create lasting memories in the places that matter most.

The most beautiful photo
backdrops in Gippsland

Phillip Island

Phillip Island has always been more than the Penguin Parade for us Gippy locals.

As a teen, it encouraged my “hippy era,” getting lost among incense and dreamcatchers among main street. I remember waving my older sister off with envy as she headed to Pyramid Rock. Now, as an adult, it’s where I spend summer holidays with friends and their families—often ending up running through the rain that only the Island’s wild weather can bring.

With rugged coastlines and quiet coves, it always feels like a little escape—even when it’s right on our doorstep.

From sunrise waves at Smiths Beach to kids running barefoot along Cowes Beach, Phillip Island is a photoshoot backdrop that’s hard to beat. Playful, adventurous, and even pup-friendly—it’s a place made for memories.

Perfect for: Surfers, Families and Pets

Wilsons Promontory National Park

I’ve hiked the Dolomites in Italy,
ventured to 3,120 m in the Himalayas,
and walked 55 consecutive days to complete the 1200km Heysen Trail.

But living in South Gippsland, The Prom is the place I’ll choose on any free Sunday—and it still takes my breath away. How lucky we are to have this just over an hour away—if I can stop myself from popping into Trulli in Meeniyan for lunch!

Whether it’s a morning adventure tackling Mount Oberon, a full weekend completing the Southern Circuit, or just a wander through quiet bushland, our Prom never disappoints.

And if you’re a nature-lover who loves it as much as I do, the Prom is a photoshoot backdrop hard to beat!

We can meet in the Dunes of the Big Drift, wander with the kids through Lilly Pilly Gully, or—if you’re game—overnight hike further into the park!

Perfect for: Hiking Couples and Nature-loving Families

Inverloch and the Bass Coast

Inverloch has a way of slowing you down. It’s where lazy afternoons turn into sandy feet and salty hair, where kids build castles at the inlet while surfers chase waves just around the corner.

For many, this stretch of coastline holds a special place in their heart—maybe it was the base for their childhood nippers program, or the spot where they first learned to surf at one of the local schools.

Venture a little further along the Bass Coast and you’ll find more gems: Kilcunda, with its sweeping beach framed by the iconic rail bridge, or Cape Paterson, where endless rockpools keep kids entertained for hours.

Whether it’s calm, reflective portraits at Inverloch, windswept family adventures at Kilcunda, or playful moments splashing at Cape Paterson, this coastline offers backdrops that are as relaxed and welcoming as the memories they hold.

Creeks, Rivers
& the Bush

With Gippsland’s many creeks, rivers, and bush tracks, chances are some of your best childhood memories—and the ones you’re now making with your family—are set outdoors.

I know mine are. Some of my happiest memories come from the annual Apex dads-and-kids weekend camping at Paradise Valley or Montana: playing in the rapids, getting up to mischief, trying to act cool enough to hang with the older kids, and waking up to Dad’s classic toad in the hole sizzling over the campfire. Add in the thrill of 4WDing along rugged tracks near Thompson Dam, discovering hidden corners of the bush you’d never see otherwise, and you’ve got a playground full of adventure.

Then there’s Briag’s Blue Pool—the icy shock of diving in, the smell of eucalyptus in the air, the laughter echoing across the rocks—reminders that these places aren’t just destinations, they’re part of who we are, then and now.

That’s why they make such powerful backdrops for portraits: capturing your family splashing in the shallows, exploring bush tracks, toasting marshmallows over the fire, or simply soaking up the bush you already love.

Perfect for: Adventurous Families and Couple who love the outdoors- dogs too!

Private Properties

There’s something special about having a space that’s all your own—whether a beach shack or a farm, these locations are full of character and perfect for family portraits.

Many clients choose them for horse photoshoots, capturing the bond between rider and horse against open fields or golden afternoon light.

They’re equally ideal for extended family sessions, letting grandparents, parents, and kids connect naturally while we capture it all—kids running barefoot on the grass, exploring gardens, or simply enjoying the privacy to be themselves.

From yabbying in the dam, playing cards at the caravan, to a cheeky beer on the verandah, private properties let your session flow naturally, creating authentic, joyful memories that are completely yours.

Perfect for: Multi-generational photoshoots, families with horses or other livestock, and anyone who appreciates a quiet, calm, and less stimulating environment or purely just loves their property!
